It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of William H. “Bo” Smigiel announce his tragic passing on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 58years old. Bo was born on August 17, 1964 to William A. Smigiel and Janice Morche in Philadelphia, PA.
Bo graduated from Father Judge High School and then went on to graduate from Holy Family University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. From there he continued to write endless amounts of his own poetry and literature works which he often gifted to his family and friends. Bo loved music whether he was playing his bass guitar or simply listening to his extensive music collection. In addition to his creative side, Bo enjoyed skateboarding and playing baseball and hockey as a young man. He continued to enjoy those sports with his family and friends as a spectator for the Philadelphia Flyers and Phillies. When Bo wasn’t enjoying his solitude he was often found amongst family and friends having a beer and enjoying the outdoors.
Bo was loved by his family and is survived by his partner of over 15 years, Kathleen Gallagher, his mother Janice Morché, his stepfather William Morché, his sister Janiceann Smigiel-Maddalo (Chris), his daughters Grace Smigiel (Kevin) and Jane Smigiel, his stepdaughter Anne Garland (Christian “Coop”), and his granddaughters Shea Clifton and Eloise Cooper. He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Smigiel.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bo’s visitation Wednesday August 16th from 9 AM to 10:45 AM in St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church, 7341 Cottage St Philadelphia Pa 19136. Mass to begin at 11am and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Friends of Father Judge High School @FriendsofFatherJudge.com
