William "Billy" Bender passed away suddenly on Feb 4, 2026 in Philadelphia PA.
Billy, a long time resident of Port Richmond and plumber by trade enjoyed playing basketball and all things outdoors. He was most himself in nature, loved animals, and spent time in his 20s living and working on a farm. His perfect Sunday was fishing or spending time with his nieces and nephews.
“Bender”, as his friends affectionately referred to him, was generous and loving and his spirit touched all who knew him. He had an infectious personality and you could always count on him for a laugh or help with a project. He spent his final days giving out clothes and blankets to the homeless in the area.
A devoted son, brother, and uncle, Billy is survived by his beloved parents Cathy and the late Robert, Siblings Lorraine(John), Susan(Winnie), late Robert Jr, Kim(late John), Jenn, and Heather, Nieces and Nephews Avery, John, Liam, Hailey, Zayn, and Giovanni. Also survived by the love of his life Sarah and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Billy will forever be remembered for his kind heart, gentle nature, and great sense of humor. He was fiercely loyal and family oriented.
He is deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to his viewing and service on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 10:30am-12:30pm at Slabinski Funeral Home 2614 Orthodox Street, Bridesburg. Prayer service will begin 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made in his honor to The Philadelphia Anti-drug/Anti-violence Network or to Uncle Neil's Home, A Farm Sanctuary.
