Thomas Andrew Sharp, age 78, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 6, 1947, in Philadelphia, Tommy was a man of remarkable kindness and generosity. He was particularly known for his warm smile and readiness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his children, Dr. William Sharp and Christi Brown (Michael), and his grandson, Colin Larsen. He is also survived by his brother Gerry Sharp (Louise). He was preceded by in death by his parents, Edward and Madeline Sharp, and his siblings Edward Sharp (Loretta), Charlie Sharp (Eleanor), Richard Sharp (Georgie) and his sister MaryAnne McCullough (Tom).
Tommy dedicated many years to serving his community as a United States Postal Service letter carrier, where he was known for his reliability, friendly demeanor and the connections he built along his route. He took pride in his work and the people he served. As a US Army Veteran, he proudly served his country in Germany during the late 1960’s.
An avid sports fan, Tommy was devoted to the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and could talk about any game, any time. In his retirement, he was a bartender at Ozzie’s Corner Tavern. Once he retired from bartending, he still loved spending there chatting with friends, becoming part of the fabric of the place and the lives of those who gathered there.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Slabinski Funeral Home, 2614 Orthodox Street, Phila., PA from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Prayer service will begin 11:30 AM and interment and military honors will be held in Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date. In honor of his generous nature, memorial contributions can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at t2t.org or the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine at pennmedicine.org/cancer/giving.
