Theresa M. Varacallo (nee Kowalska) passed away on August 8, 2026 just shy of her 99th birthday. Beloved wife of the late Dominic Charles Varacallo. Devoted mother of the late Dominic J. Varacallo (the late Dolores "Dee"). Dear Grandmother of Dominic L. Varacallo (Teresa), Douglas Varacallo and Danene Marchesani (Michael). Great Grandmother of Brittany (Ashley), Dominic, Daniel and Ryan. Great Great Grandmother of Nelson and Starr. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Theresa was predeceased by her brother Edward Kowalski (the late Herta) and sister Eleanor Zach (the late Joseph).
Theresa was born and raised in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. She was a longtime resident of Juniata and a devoted member of St Adalbert's parish. She worked for American Engineering and Philtex where she was a seamstress making bathing suits. Theresa married into an Italian family and embraced the culture and the food. Aside for her deeply rooted Polish heritage, she learned how to make delicious gravy and meatballs and loved to bake cookies. She was a woman rooted in her Catholic faith and will be deeply missed by her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 10am-11am at St. John Cantius Chapel, 4412 E. Thompson St., Phila., PA 19137. Her funeral mass will begin at 11am. Private interment will be held in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA at a later date.
