Theodore R. Godowsky, Jr.

On March 25, 2024, Theodore (Ted) Richard Godowsky Jr passed away at age 88.  Ted was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Betty, son David, and parents Theodore Jr & Bessie Godowsky.  Surviving Ted is his sons Ted III (Sandra)and Joe (Patricia), grandchildren Joseph M. Jr., Amanda Buchanan (Jason), Danielle Weber (Tristan), Candace Mason (Willie), Joshua Godowsky and D’andra Alvarado and great grandchildren Rooney Rey Mason, Harper Buchanan, Kinsley Buchanan and Serenity Alvarado.

Ted was born in Patterson, NJ.  He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from May 1957 to May 1959 as an infantryman “trainer of troops”.  He met Betty at a USO dance during his time of service and, as he recently described the encounter to an ER nurse, it was love at first sight.  They married in Philadelphia, PA in 1961 and spent the years raising their 3 boys in the heart of the city and growing old together.  Betty and Ted had an unshakeable bond that held them together through all the bumps & bruises, both good and difficult times life has to offer.  Their long marriage and strong family bond are a testament that love and commitment can last a lifetime. Ted will be truly missed by family and friends.  He is now back in Betty’s loving arms, and is with other family members that are no longer with us.
