Richard Michael Weklar, a resident of northeast Philadelphia passed away peacefully at his residence on January 11, 2026, at the age of 67.
Mr. Weklar was a 1976 graduate of Father Judge High School in Northeast Philadelphia. Following high school, he attended a series of higher educational institutions including Drexel University where he obtained a Certificate in Computer Science, Bucks County Community College where he received a Certificate in Business Administration, and a real estate broker’s license from the State of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Weklar worked for a decade at Bell Telephone, later known as AT&T in computer automation and advanced electronic communications. With that technology background, he became an entrepreneur and launched several business enterprises involving real estate management. His final business prior to retirement involved assisting debt-ridden individuals in restoring their good credit.
Mr. Weklar for many years was a fitness buff and worked out daily at home as well as at his favorite local gym. He was known for having a lifetime passion for muscle cars and motorcycles. He loved the sound of his Harley Davidson speeding down the turnpike and was a member of several motorcycle clubs dedicated to honoring American war veterans.
Mr. Weklar is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Weklar Parrish and Miss Mary Anna Weklar, both residing in Walnut Creek, California, and one brother, Mr. Edward Joseph Weklar, Jr., residing in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Mr. Weklar also has two nephews, Mr. Edward Joseph Weklar, III, residing in McLean, Virginia, and Dr. James Myles F. Parrish, residing in Coral Gables, Florida, as well as one niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Parrish Stasny, residing in San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Weklar, Sr., and Frances Theresa Weklar who he cared for throughout their senior years.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, April 18th at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church located in northeast Philadelphia at 8100 Colfax Street. The Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a family visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Graveside interment will follow the Memorial Mass at Resurrection Cemetery located in Bensalem at 5201 Hulmeville Road. Finally, following the burial, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Toscana 52 Restaurant located at 4603 Street Road in Feasterville-Trevose.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Projects (WWP) which is one of the largest veterans’ service organizations in the United States with office locations and partners across the country. As both a national and local veteran charity, it serves veterans, caregivers and families of veterans who incurred a physical or mental injury or illness on or after September 11, 2001. Your donation will be a lasting tribute to Richard Michael Weklar, who deeply loved his Nation and its veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in preserving our Freedom.
