Philadelphia

Mary T. Rutecki, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving and devoted family at St. Luke's Hospital, PA. Born on March 3, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, Mary lived a life filled with love, compassion, and joyful pursuits.

Mary's career was one of service and care. She worked as a nursing assistant at St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, PA. Her dedication to helping others was evident in everything she did.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary had a deep commitment to her community. She was a proud graduate of Little Flowers High School Class of 1963. Additionally, she volunteered at Tacony Baptist Church whenever needed and at the St. Francis Inn where she diligently helped the homeless find clothing and other essential necessities.

Mary was an active member of the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia throughout her life. She was involved in the Bridesburg Father's Club and was a cherished member of All Saints Church. Prayer meetings at All Saints in Marion Hall held a special place in her heart.

Hobbies were an important part of Mary's life as well. She loved the mountains and delighted in fishing trips with her family. Camping adventures were treasured times where she imparted invaluable life skills to her loved ones while enjoying the serenity of nature. Kayaking with her fishing pole always close by brought her immense joy. Another passion of hers was woodworking; she found solace and creativity in crafting beautiful pieces. Let us not forget the thrill she experienced while riding her motorcycle - Mary truly embraced every moment.

Mary will be deeply missed by her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her children Christine Rhoades and husband Robert, Kate McCrossan and husband Mark. She held a special place in the hearts of grandsons Ryan Butterworth and Riley Borko, who affectionately called her "Bear," and was beloved great-grandma to Ethan Archambault and Alyssa Butterworth. Mary is survived by her three brothers Frank, Charles, and Joe McMullin and many nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her surviving loved ones, Mary is reunited in eternity with her one true love, Dennis E. Rutecki Sr., her son Dennis E. Rutecki Jr., and her siblings Sr. Kathleen OSF and Daniel McMullin. Together, they watch over those who still cherish their memory.
