Joe passed away at the age of 41 after a long courageous battle wth cancer. He is a beloved son who is predeceased by his mother Colleen (nee Sommerville), his grandparents Joseph and Katherine Gunkel and William and Mary Sommerville. Joe is survived by his devoted father Joseph along with many aunts, uncles, cousins friends and neighbors.

Joseph was born in Philadelphia, PA and spent his formative years in Cinnaminson, NJ. He was a 2005 graduate of B.C.S.S.S.D. along with being a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 821. His interests were varied. He was a railroad enthusiast, AKA Railroad fanning. Joe enjoyed walking the trails of the South Jersey Park system. He loved watching sports and his DVDs. He most definitely also like to eat!

While Joseph's time here on Earth was cut short, he would like to let you know he enjoyed and was loved for the time he was here.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 beginning at 6pm at the Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home, 2614 Orthodox St. Phila., PA 19137 (Parking on premises). His evening services will begin at 7:45pm. An additional viewing will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 8am-8:50am at the funeral home. Interment will be held precisely at 10am at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA 18940.
