Joseph Ditsche

Philadelphia

Joseph Ditsche Sr of Frankford, age 76, passed on January 28th 2024. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles J. Ditsche and Mary E. Ditsche (Banach). At the young age of 19 Joe joined the Army and proudly served his country in Korea during the Vietnam war. He went on to work with Progress Lighting for many years and eventually retired with the company.

Joseph was preceded in death by his Wife of many memorable years, Louise Ditsche (Welsh), and his son Joseph Ditsche Jr. Joe is survived by his children Angela Marie Cramer, Francis Henry Ditsche Sr (Victoria), and Mary Louise Fitzcharles (Michael). Beloved Pop to his 5 grandchildren, Jimmy, Keith, Alexa, Frankie, and Louise, and 3 Great Grandchildren Jason, Liam, and Luciano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, godchildren, and a lot of very special friends.

Pop was a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan, and his numerous Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball championship wins can attest to his love for the game. Joe had a passion for music, specifically Motown and Doowop. Joe's hobbies included relaxing at the kitchen table playing solitaire with a cold beer, and taking care of all his pets. He also loved to celebrate his German heritage at the annual Cannstatter's Volkfest German Festival with his family and friends!

Joseph went by many names such as Mr. D, Chief, Uncle Joe, Pops, and Poppop knucklehead; Proof to the lasting impression he’s made on so many lives.  Although he will be missed, his memory will bring a smile to your face whenever you hear someone utter the words “Hey sweetheart” or “jackass”.
