John Jhinis, jr.

John Jhinis Jr., age 59 of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Friday, October 8th, 2021. Born and raised in Bridesburg, he was a true neighborhood legend and his tough love and loyalty to the community was admired by all. He had been employed as an Operating Engineer with Philadelphia Gas Works for 31 years. Johnny J's love for family, friends, football and music was known by all. Johnny's Mother was his biggest cheerleader and there is no one more proud of Johnny than his Father. If there was one thing everyone knew it was that you couldn't say Johnny without Tommy and Tommy without Johnny. He always wanted to be a protector of his sister Dayna, you can ask anyone who went to Frankford High School. You could catch him at his happiest having a beer with friends reminiscing about his high school football years. He loved watching his nephews grow up. Being a dad to Little Johnny is what changed Johnny's life, then Little Johnny blessed the Jhinis family with 2 grand daughters. He was also known as Pop to Lilly and Emilia, the three of them could wrestle around for hours, they knew how to make Johnny smile on the gloomiest days. Johnny had a hard shell but if you knew him he was a soft, gentle, romantic, kind soul. He took his soft, romantic traits and swept his wife Josie off her feet not once, but twice! They stayed young by going to concerts, eating their favorite meal at Marista's, taking trips down the shore, and just dancing and singing in their living room. Johnny and Josie had a special way of showing their love to each other, but there was one specific way they would express themselves, to some people it might look like a few words, but to them it meant a million things. Johnny is sending his love to her today with his few words; Josie, I love you today, tomorrow and forever.
Son of John and Nancy Jhinis, Husband of Jo-Anne (Wood) Jhinis, Father of John Jhinis III and Milena Jhinis, Brother of Dayna and Gary May and Tommy and Debbie Jhinis, Uncle of Gary, Nicholas and Kyle and the best Pop of Lilliana and Emilia Jhinis.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 10 AM to 12 noon on Friday, October 15th at Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home 2614 Orthodox St., followed by words of remembrance to honor Johnny at 12 noon. Burial will be held down the street from Slabinski's at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Immediately after the burial Johnny's friends and family will gather at Edgemont Caterers at 4411 Edgemont St. to celebrate and honor Johnny's life.
