Elva M. Schofield

Elva M. Schofield, lovingly known as Elva, peacefully entered eternal rest on February 10, 2026, at home with her family at the age of 91, in her beloved Roxborough, Philadelphia. Born on December 27, 1934, Elva was the cherished daughter of Arthur and Edna Baum (nee Herion).

Elva's journey began in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, where she grew up in the Roxborough section, a place that would remain close to her heart throughout her life. She completed her education at Roxborough High School, furthering her studies at Temple University for two years. This foundation sparked a passion within her that would come to shape the lives of many.

With a heart full of love and dedication, Elva became the proud owner and operator of a daycare center in the Roxborough/Wissahickon community. For many years, she nurtured and cared for countless children, fostering their growth and well-being. Elva’s legacy shines brightly through the generations she touched; she was a guiding light for so many young lives, instilling in them the values of kindness and compassion.

A faithful member of the Ridge Avenue Methodist Church, Elva found joy in singing in the choir, surrounded by the warmth of friends who became family. Music was one of her true joys, allowing her to express herself and connect with others in a profound way. In addition to her love for music, Elva cherished moments spent relaxing in her yard, embracing the beauty of nature, and relished the thrill of motorcycle riding, reminding us all to embrace life’s adventures.

Elva M. Schofield leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing the children of her community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, a reminder of the kindness and care that defines true community service. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Elva is the wife of the late William "Bill" Schofield. Dear mother of William Cluff (deceased), Barbara Regester (Mark), Michael Cluff, Patricia Kelly and Richard Lees. She will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a nephew and niece. She was predeceased by her 2 brothers, Arthur and Richard Baum and her parents Arthur and Edna (nee Herion).
